If your a Firefox user and you like to have many tabs open at once you might have noticed how Firefox 2 likes to shrink them. And if you have enough tabs that have been shrunk, Firefox will start scrolling them off the screen. Some of you may actually like this feature or not care, but if you want to change how Firefox handles your tabs read on for the hack.

  1. Fire up Firefox (hehe).
  2. Type about:config into the address bar and hit Enter.
  3. In the giant list of options look for browser.tabs.tabMinWidth.
  4. If you double click on this key, a pop-up window will appear with the default value of 100 filled in.
  5. This default value means that the minimum width for a tab is 100 pixels.
  6. You can change this value to be higher (fitting less tabs on-screen), lower (fitting more tabs on-screen), or input 0 to disable this feature in Firefox.
  7. Once your done restart Firefox to see the effects.
